A Love That Shaped Me: Honoring My Grandfather’s Impact and Finding Connection Again

I don't think I've ever loved anyone as much as I love(d) my grandfather. My real dad wasn't around much and my mom had me young so she had a lot of growing up to do, but my grandfather (pap pap as we called him) was both parents to me. He taught me everything I would ever need to know as I grew up and though he had 12 adult children of his own he treated me like I was number 13. He made me feel so loved and special throughout my childhood and teenage years and losing him when I started college was the worst pain I've ever experienced; it really tore me apart and changed the course of my life. I can truly say that, with his passing, I lost a big piece of me and I can still feel that void to this day. I never thought I'd care about another human to that degree or feel like someone cared about me again until I met my boyfriend. He's definitely like this perfect person who was sent from my grandfather guardian angel.
